I was born into a single parent home in Colville Washington. I was a very unwelcome addition to a large family living in abject poverty.

After living in Spokane, Washington and Helena, Montana I went into the service and served in Vietnam. Upon return to the world as we called America back then I became a policeman first in Astoria, Oregon and later in San Diego, CA.

I rose through the ranks but the higher I went the more I realized there were as many bad guys on the department in positions of power as there were in the general population.  I became very disillusioned when a police officer I had written up for racism and brutality precipitated and incident that led to the death of another officer.  I was ordered to lie by my superiors but refused and it led to some very ugly things happening including me being hog tied shot in the back of the head and left for dead.

I’m still a big support of law enforcement but believe those that violate the law should go to prison. Those that do their job and uphold the law deserve our utmost respect. As it’s one of the most difficult jobs in the world and without them cleaning the streets of the human garbage that preys on the innocent and the weak we'd have a total breakdown of our society.

Now I’ve raised my first group of children and I’m working on raising an adopted daughter and a grandchild plus I have a daughter back at home with her baby so the peace and quiet of retirement will not be in the cards for me. But that’s alright I’ll never let a child related to me grow up the way I did.

My hobbies and stress relievers include writing and fishing with a bit of hunting tossed in for good measure.  I enjoy expressing myself in words on paper as the exchange of ideas and concepts is one of the few things we enjoy in this country that is still free.

I hope as you read some of my pieces you find something that moves you either to agreement or to serious disagreement. If I do that then I have succeeded as a writer if you have no feeling one way or another than I have failed miserably as a writer. Anyway if you have reached this far thank you for reading my profile.
